Famous Painter Wu Xiu Visited Beihua University

    On the afternoon of April 29th, famous painter Wu Xiu, accompanied by Division Chief Liu Qiang of Sports, Health and Art Division in Education Ministry of Jilin Province, visited Beihua University. Party Secretary Tang Yongchun, President Liu Hezhong met them.
  Wu Xiu, formerly named Wu Yanxiu, was born in Sichuan in 1932. After graduated from China Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1961, he became a postgraduate in Beijing Fine Art Academy. In 1984 he was appointed deputy dean, and now he is a tutor in Wu Xiu Chinese Traditional Painting Office of Qinghua University. He was a director of the 4th China Artists Association, a member of Chinese Calligraphers Association, Poetry Academy, China Senior Professors Association. His paintings and calligraphy works have been exhibited and awarded many times at home and abroad. He has also published a number of poetry, calligraphy and Painting works for museums and art galleries. His achievements have been marked down in many dictionaries and biographies domestically and internationally.
  5 works produced by Wu Xiu and his assistant Tutor Wang Qingjie for the university have been stored and exhibited in College of Fine Arts and the library.
  President Liu Hezhong said that the works of Wu Xiu would contribute to the progress of art and have a great influence upon teachers and students of the school.
